Ivan Fabara

Cellist noted for his sensitive and intuitive interpretation. He has performed in concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in Italy, Canada, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador.

Always committed to teaching, musical showcase, and social cohesion he has co-founded the "Quito Cellos International Festival" www.festivanquitocellos.com and directed musical projects in Ecuador and Canada. Currently living in London (Ontario) as a chamber musician he plays in different groups such as Magisterra Soloists and Wings Quartet where he plays with the Cello J.F. Lott (England 1850) thanks to the generous loan of the Don Wright Faculty of Music (Canada).

Ivan participated in international festivals such as CLAZZ International Music Festival (Italy); as a cello solo of the Festival Orchestra, Orford Music, Domaine Forget (Canada), among others.

Ivan studied in the National Conservatory of Quito, Simon Bolivar Conservatory, Latin American Cello Academy (Venezuela), University of Montreal (Canada), and Western University (Canada). He was also a recipient of different awards and scholarships such as the excellence SENESCYT to pursuit his studies in Montreal and the Larry and Susan Agranove's Award in Western University.

His passion to teach and to share his knowledge in music resulted in having students of all ages and levels creating with them recitals of chamber music and cello orchestra. Aside of having his own studio, he also worked as a cello and chamber music professor in "El Sistema" Share the Warmth foundation located in Montreal from 2015-2018. He is currently working as a Chamber Music Teaching Assistant of Don Wright Faculty of Music in Western University and Cello Coaching in LYS (London Youth Symphony).

As a professor he completed pedagogic training, Alexander's technique, Feldenkrais and Yoga for musicians. His teaching method is chosen based on the needs of the student or group of students. Motivation and pleasure in learning is the most important aspect for him.
